SSC rode themselves into a box seat 250 for 3 against Police SC in the mega The final of the SLC Major Clubs League Cricket Tournament 2023 was marred by rain with the last two days rained off but for one over yesterday when SSC added four runs to their overnight 250 for the loss of 3 wickets against Police SC at the NCC grounds. Nuwanidu Fernando took three runs from that over to remain unbeaten on 10 with Kusal Mendis on 29 scored on the opening day.

With the crunch final moving to its fourth and final day a result looked bleak with the first rounds yet incomplete and the hovering prospects of rain again.

The opening day dominated by SSCs openers Avishka Fernando who notched 107 off 137 balls and Shevon Daniel 56 off 88 in a 111-run partnership must have left Police SCs captain Ashen Bandara ruing his decision of putting in the opposition to take first lease after winning the toss on a batting friendly NCC wicket.
