The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) had invited all Members of Parliament to a meeting it was scheduled to have with the officials of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), on Tuesady (05), COPF Chairman, MP Harsha de Silva told journalists in Colombo yesterday.

“We will ask them to explain the rationale behind the substantial salary increase. I have urged all 225 MPs to attend the meeting with Central Bank officials. This concerns not only the COPF but also the entire Parliament,” he stated.

MP de Silva expressed that many MPs had raised ethical concerns about the Central Bank’s decision to raise employee salaries by substantial amounts. He noted that, in accordance with the new Central Bank Act, the bank was connected to the Parliament through COPF.
