Prez promotes use of AI in local film industry
The Sri Lankan government will extend support for the production of Sri Lanka’s first film with the help of artificial intelligence (AI), the President’s Media Division (PMD) said on Sunday, quoting President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Addressing a film awards ceremony in Colombo on Saturday night (30), Wickremesinghe said AI technology had been integrated into the global film industry since last year, and Sri Lanka must be prepared to use this technology.
The President said the government had appointed a committee to promote AI in Sri Lanka, and it would work with the University of Moratuwa and the University of the Visual and Performing Arts on producing Sri Lanka’s first film with AI.
