Police seize drugs from Kottawa and Nugegoda

The Police yesterday detected 13 kilos of heroin worth 400 million rupees during anti-drug operations carried out at Kottawa and Nugegoda. They also arrested two suspects.

The consignments of narcotics belonged to an underworld gangster named Dubai Kapila, police said.The police also said the suspects had distributed about a tonne of drugs in the country during past two years.

The police Special Task Force (STF) first arrested a motorist with 1.2 kilos of heroin at Rukmale Road, Kottawa.

During questioning the suspect revealed that there were more drugs in a house near the Sri Jayewardenepura University. The police took into custody 12.1 kilos of drugs from there. Six kilos of hashish were also found.

One and a half million rupees suspected to have been earned from the sale of narcotics too was taken into police custody from the suspect. The police then arrested the wife of the suspect with 326 grams of cocaine in her possession.The Police Narcotics Bureau is conducting further investigations.
