NFF makes request from SC; seeks to support MEP FR petition

- newsfirst.lk

The National Freedom Front made a request from the Supreme Court on Friday to allow the NFF to support the FR petition that was filed by the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna over the national list of the United People’s Freedom Alliance.

The National Freedom Front informed court that they too  contested under the UPFA ticket at the recent parliamentary elections and that initially the party’s representatives were allowed to be included into the national list, but that opportunity had been deprived from them later on.

Attorney-at-Law, Titus Padmasiri noted that Piyasiri Wijeynayake and Mohammed Muzammil will be included into this case and that when this case is taken up on Monday facts will be presented to court.

Piyasiri Wijenayake added that the national list that was presented by Susil Premajayantha was an arbitrary one that breaches the agreements within the alliance. He went on to state that it is the people’s right to elect public representatives. He said:”So, we will take legal action against whatever undermines democracy and the people rights.”
