Final Randoli Perahera to parade the streets of Kandy tonight

The final Randoli procession of the Esala Festival of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy will parade the streets tonight.

Acting Diyawadana Nilame of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy, Pradeep Nilanga Daala said that 1500 artistes and nearly 90 elephants will colour the procession which showcases several items of  cultural interest.

Our area correspondent reported that a large number of devoteees have already arrived in Kandy to watch final Randoli procession.

Meanwhile,  special transport services will be in operation today for the convenience of the devotees leaving to Kandy to witness the procession.

Railways Superintendant L.A.R. Rathnayake said that special trains services will be in operation from Colombo Fort, Nawalapitiya and Matale for the convenience of those leaving to Kandy.

Deputy General Manager on Transport at the Sri Lanka Transport Board, Raja Gunetillake said that special bus services will be in operation from Colombo Fort and other areas, to Kandy.

He further stated that more buses will be assigned for transport, based on the demand. The Deputy General Manager went on to say that steps have been taken to operate bus services from Kandy to all destinations for the convenience of the devotees returning from Kandy following the conclusion of the Randoli procession.
