- lankatruth.com

Defense ministry sources say the Army will reveal about a shadow LTTE group maintained by Army intelligence and about ‘operation double edge’ carried out by it during the war period and persons who have had connected with it.

According to these sources the shadow group had been formed on the instructions of former defense secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and it is still being maintained.

The revelation about this shadow group was made by Thavendran, a former LTTE spy and an active member of ‘operation double edge’, who had been arrested in connection with the disappearance of ‘lankaenews’ journalist and cartoonist Prageeth Ekneligoda.

Five other Army intelligence officers have also been arrested on information provided by him.

Among the Army officers arrested are two lieutenant colonels who played a key role in this operation.

The Army is now assisting the CID in its investigation into Ekneligoda’s disappearance and will make revelations about ‘operation double edge.
