New Zealand to take on England in T20 World Cup Semi-Final

- newsfirst.lk

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is too familiar with the fickleness of cricket’s shortest format to take his team’s red-hot form for granted, going into today’s World Twenty20 semi-final against England.

The Kiwis cruised into the last four as the only unbeaten team in the tournament to book a clash with England who seem to be peaking at the right time.

“I know that going into tomorrow, it’s a big, exciting match but our feet are firmly on the ground and we are going to be wanting to perform our plans as best as we can,” the 25-year-old All-blacks Skipper told reporters in New Delhi on Tuesday (March 29).

“We need to look at the condition before we decide on our final side. Naturally we’ll consider the track we’re playing on, the ground size and also the opposition and at this stage we are still yet to decide on eleven,” Williamson added.

England have made stunning progress in limited overs cricket over the last year and the current World Twenty20 squad have much in common with the champion 2010 side, skipper Eoin Morgan said ahead of the match.

“I can’t quite believe where we are with our one-day cricket and Twenty20 cricket. The guys that we’ve selected have done outstandingly well and shown a great amount of attitude in learning,” Morgan told reporters at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.

“Yes, quite a few actually — the main one would be how relaxed everybody is around the group. It’s all about having fun and enjoying what you are doing. If you don’t have the inner drive to always want to improve, to win a game of cricket, you stand still for a long time; this side has shown strength which is similar to that 2010 (group),” added Morgan when asked if there were similarities.
