SLC Launches ‘Super Under 19 Provincial Tournament 2016’

Sri Lanka Cricket is proud to announce the launch of the 2016 Under 19 inter provincial tournament, commencing on the 19th April with four 2 day games played  at the Surrey, Mattegoda, Panadura and Wesley.

Vying for honours will be ten provincial teams which will compete in two groups over a period of 5 weeks, and play a 3 day final at the R. Premadasa Stadium on the 10th, 11th and 12th of May.

The Super Under 19 Provincial Tournament will serve as a testing ground for selections for the National Under 19 team, whose first outing will be a tour of England from the 17th July to the 17th of August 2016, where they will play two 4 day games and 3 Youth ODIs.

Sri Lanka Cricket believes that in order to gain sustained success at the highest levels of international cricket, focus on youth Cricket is paramount, and to that end has a blueprint running that will bridge the gap between domestic and international cricket.
