Recall Sanath Jayasuriya as Chairman of Selectors – SLC proposes

Sri Lanka Cricket has proposed to recall Sanath Jayasuriya as the Chairman of Selectors. It was also revealed at a media briefing on Tuesday that Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to make several new appointments.

The media briefing was held at the Sri Lanka Cricket with the President of SLC Thilanga Sumathipala presiding over the event.

President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Thilanga Sumathipala noted that they invited Aravinda de Silva to work with the governing board as the advisor to cricket affairs, and Charith Senanayake has been appointed as the manager of the team for the upcoming tour.

The governing board has made a request to the Sport Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara to bring back Sanath Jayasuriya,who has done a great service to cricket, as the Chairman of Selectors after May 1.

Journalists also questioned about the controversy with Lasith Malinga and the World T20.

Journalists also raised questions that Lasith Malinga had made a complaint stating that he was sent for the tournament ‘by force’ ; while making a special complain against the selectors headed by Aravinda De Silva.

Chairman of the SLC, Thilanga Sumathipala stated that Angelo Mathews who was carrying an injury bowled his quota of four overs and scored 78 runs by taking painkillers as it was a mustwin situation for Sri Lanka.

Journalists raised questions whether Lasith Malinga was not giving his 100% for Sri Lanka, and noted that he is making an allegation at the moment.

Thilanga Sumathipala stated that he is not making an allegation, but instead, talking about Angelo Mathews.
