Gammedda’s final report handed over to UN at World Humanitarian Summit

The final report of the News 1st Gammedda Door to Door campaign was handed over to the UN Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, Kang Kyung-Wha by The Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited a short while ago ( May 23rd).

The report was handed over at the World Humanitarian Summit which is currently underway in Istanbul, Turkey.

Speaking on the report, the UN Assistant Secretary General noted that she would assist Sri Lanka by informing the UNDP and the World Bank on the findings in the report, with the hope that the Sri Lankan people will benefit.

The summit is a landmark UN event, aimed at changing the way humanitarian response and aid is managed globally.

Representing Sri Lanka will be the Capital Maharaja Organization, the sole Sri Lankan company selected to be represented at the summit.

The World Humanitarian Summit is the result of a process that began over two years ago. The Capital Maharaja Organisation was invited by the UN to be part of its regional consultation in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and then, at the Global Consultation in Geneva last year as well.

The summit in Istanbul will bring see hundreds of world leaders coming together to make a commitment to change the way humanitarian work is carried out, with the hope that help will reach those affected faster and more efficiently.
