Several leftists parties convened a joint media briefing in Colombo on Monday, June 27

General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Communist Party, D.E.W Gunesekera stated that he did not allow the president, prime minister and ministers to meddle with the business of the COPE when he was the chairman.

He added that they prevented the first bond insurance initiated by him to be tabled in parliament as it is been prevented from being added on the order paper since the prime minister had politicised things for 20 years.

Elaborating on the CBSL Governor, he added that he has never witnessed a governor who was spoken about at a press conference- since he visited all houses to state that he isn’t guilty.

He went on to note that information on the parties involved and how much they bid doesn’t have to be secret after a bank transaction has occurred. His son-in-law is one of the 16 companies that participated and it was also information Chandra Jayaratne wanted.

Explaining further, he added that the President should send him home by considering the IMF report issued on June 8.
