President Srisena says the nine provinces will be made hubs of reconciliation
Speaking at a ceremony in Embilipitiya, President Maithripala Sirisena said that the nine provinces of the country will be made hubs of reconciliation through the development of playgrounds.
The 2016 Sports Star Festival commenced under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Embilipitiya Maheweli grounds. The ceremony took place with the participation of sports coaches representing nine provinces, and officers in charge of sports activities.
Speaking at the festival, President Sirisena noted that a new ministry will be established through the 19th Amendment. He added that Ministry of National Reconciliation and Integration would come under his purview, therefore it should be their utmost responsibility to work as one among the nine provinces.
The newly-built operating theatre of the Embilipitiya General Hospital was also declared open under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The foundation stone for a five storey-building of the hospital was also laid on the sidelines of the event.
