#Gammadda100: Day 37 – changing lives, one day at a time….

- newsfirst.lk

The Gammedda 100-days nationwide public service initiative is growing from strength to strength with each passing day as we continue our efforts to ease the hardships of the general public.

DAY 37/100 – Five projects are to be vested in the public over the weekend….

Balangoda

Villagers of the Wellawaya Estate and surrounding areas in Balangoda had no access to clean drinking water. However, they began to have hopes of a better future with clean water as we, News 1st, launched a series of projects on August 18 to bring much needed relief to these villagers…

Although these villagers received water for a limited time of just four hours, the problem they faced was the inability to store water. With the aim of putting an end to their problems, we took steps to construct water storage tanks in five separate locations. The construction work of the tanks are now nearing completion.

The tanks constructed in the Egastland, Diyawella and Wellawaya Health Centres will be vested with the public on August 28  while the other two water projects in Wellawaya A and B will be declared open on August 29. “We faced an insurmountable number of issues due to not being able to store water. We are thankful to the News 1st Gammedda 100-days initiative for constructing a place for us to store water,” said a villager.
ATHKANDURA

The renovation of the anicut located on the road that leads to the Keenaketiya Village in Athkandura, Galle will commence on Friday August 26.

COMPLETED NUMBER OF PROJECTS: Six
