- newsfirst.lk

The First Open Government Partnership (OGP) Civil Society National Action Plan for Sri lanka was launched in Colombo on Monday, August 29.

Sri Lanka became a member of the Open Government Partneship in 2015, following which the national action plan for 2016 and 2018 was drafted with the assistance of the members of the open government partnership civil society organisation.

The steering committee touched on a number of themes including education, ICT, environment , local government , women , women in political governance, corruption and right to information.

Executive Director of the Transparency International Sri Lanka, Asoka Obeyesekere noted that the OGP represents the same thinking which was present during the 100 day program.

He added that they have commitments & dates which is important for the government to understand the tasks to be done by the civil society and the media. If the government wants to alter the document good reasons must be given otherwise the document should remain as it is.
