President orders independent inquiry into deaths of Jaffna youth
The government has decided to provide compensation to the parents of the two Jaffna University students killed in police fire.
A statement from the President’s Media Division says that the president ordered officials to conduct an independent inquiry into the deaths of the two students of the Jaffna University, and to produce a report before the courts without delay.
It notes that the president was deeply grieved by the news of the death of two students. The president had said the inquiry will continue without any hindrance.
