Matches from the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2017 will be live streamed across ICC’s digital platforms for the first time as the ICC continues its commitment to raising the profile of the women’s game.

The first match to be broadcast live online will be the opening game between hosts Sri Lanka and India when the tournament gets underway on Tuesday in Colombo.

ICC General Manager – Cricket, Geoff Allardice: “The ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2017 is a very important event, with some of the best teams competing for spots in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. I’m sure the comprehensive coverage of the Colombo event across our digital platforms will showcase the talents of the players to a huge audience of cricket fans, and continue to build the profile of the women’s game.”

In all, nine of 24 matches will be broadcast live online starting with the Group A match between India and host Sri Lanka on the first day of the tournament at the P. Sara Oval Stadium, which is the broadcast venue. A number of teams will be seen in action since the broadcast matches include those of the preliminary league, Super Six stage and the final.

The broadcast will be in line with the highest standards in the industry for online live-streaming only broadcasts and can be watched on icc-cricket.com.

Nine cameras will be deployed to capture the action while the commentary panel will consist of experienced voices David Townsend and Roshan Abeysinghe as well as former women’s internationals Anjum Chopra of India and Ebony Rainford-Brent of England.

Other coverage across ICC digital platforms includes live scores from all the matches, video highlights, interviews and feature stories, shining a light on exciting action on the field, the best performers and their stories beyond the boundary.

The ICC will also distribute editorial and photo packages through the tournament to media outlets along with other features, side stories, interviews and major landmarks.

India, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Thailand are clubbed in Group A while Group B consists of South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Scotland and Papua New Guinea. The top three teams from either group will advance to the Super Six stage with the top two teams playing the final on 21 February.
