G.L. to Russia and Kazakhstan
Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris will leave for an official visit to the Russian Federation on Wednesday (23) at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, the Government Information Department said.
Official talks on a range of issues of importance to both countries will be held with the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Russian Federation.
The Minister is to visit the Republic of Kazakhstan on the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazykhanov on May 24 and 25, 2012.
This is the first official visit to Kazakhstan by a Sri Lankan Foreign Minister.
According to the department, Prof. Peiris will hold official talks with his Kazakhstan counterpart and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Annual Bilateral Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan.
