US welcomes Sri Lanka’s Action Plan
The United States today welcomed the release of the National Action Plan by the Government of Sri Lanka.
In a release the US Embassy in Colombo they have long encouraged the full implementation of the recommendations outlined by the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission.
The Embassy said they believed that full implementation of the National Action Plan will benefit all citizens of Sri Lanka by furthering long-term reconciliation and lasting peace.
The Cabinet last week approved a move to execute a National Action Plan to implement the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission with indicators and a time frame.
The action plan will be implemented in accordance with four requirements, namely recommendations pertaining to the National policy, the final stages of the war, human rights and national security as well as resettlement and development.
