Top Japanese executives to share key insights at JASTECA management seminar on Monday

Three top Japanese executives who are working in Sri Lanka will share some of their insights to Japanese style of management at the seminar organised by the JASTECA Institute of Management (JIM) on Monday, 27 August from 9 a.m. at the Crystal Ballroom at the Taj Samudra Hotel.

The trio will figure in a panel discussion with the participants of the seminar. They are Colombo Dockyard Chairman Akihiko Nakauchi, ITOCHU Corporation Colombo Liaison Office General Manager Takashi Yoshino and Kumagai Gumi Co Ltd., Sri Lanka Office Deputy General Manager Minoru Tsutsui.
Nakauchi is a graduate from Kobe University of Japan. He was formally the Managing Director, Business Innovation and Development at the Mitsui Engineering and Ship building Corporation, Japan. Due to Nakauchi’s expertise in Management, Colombo Dockyard PLC is acknowledged as one of the most efficiently managed Japanese overseas enterprises in Sri Lanka.
Yoshino is the Immediate Past Chairman of Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sri Lanka and graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Keio University Tokyo, Japan. He has served in Itochu Corporation in Malaysia, Brazil, and Mexico and prior to coming to Sri Lanka he was the President of Itochu Mexico SA.
Tsutsui graduated from Waseda University of Tokyo, Japan, and works as a Manager of Overseas Department of Kumagai Gumi Ltd. Japan and held a position as a Manager of Kumagai Gumi Singapore before coming to Sri Lanka in 2005 to take over his current assignment. During his long stay in Sri Lanka he has acquired wide knowledge on Sri Lankan culture and values.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Athulla Edirisinghe, Member – Japan-Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA) Trust and Co-Chairman of JASTECA Institute of Management.
The panel discussion starting at 3.30 p.m. is a key highlight of the full day seminar, which will be preceded by presentations on the Japanese style of management by four local experts who have been trained in Japan.
The expert panel of speakers are Mahinda Saranapala, President JASTECA, and CEO of Kelani Cables Plc., Sunil Wijesinha, specialist in productivity and Japanese style management and winner of APO Award for promoting productivity in the Asia Pacific Region, Premalal Fernando, former Managing Director Richard Pieris Tyre Sector and Management Consultant in 5S and Kaizen concepts, and Dhammika Kalapuge, Director, Sipcom-1 Ltd.
The objective of the seminar is to enhance the business efficiency, service quality and competitiveness of company directors, consultants, managers, corporate trainers, who are best suited to benefit from the full day program.
A JASTECA spokesman said the participants will be able to learn the application of Japanese management techniques through lectures and panel discussion.
They will focus on adopting and benefiting from Japanese management techniques and practice, Japanese way of delighting the customer, four pillar strategy for sustainable growth and profits as well as business excellence through 5S and Kaizen.
