t-sips powers inaugural Sri Lanka Schools Rowing Championship

Next week the Beira lake will be transformed from still to stirring for the first ever Sri Lanka Schools Rowing Championships.  Here, 14 leading schools from the country will flock to the Colombo Rowing Club to take part in the true spirit of camaraderie and principled athletics for four consecutive days.


t-sips who has been behind the Royal-Thomian Regatta and the Royal college team for three consecutive years will once again step up to support the sport. The company is known to also have sponsored the international sporting rowing event, Far East Asian Rowing Assosiation Championship (FEARA).
For t-sips, rowing is very much close to their hearts and see the Sri Lanka Schools Rowing Championship as a platform to taking the sport to the national level and opening it out to talent from all over the country.
At the Inaugural event of  the Schools’ Rowing Championship, making the history books will be St Thomas’, Royal, St Josephs’, Ananda, Nalanda, Ladies’, Visakha, Bishops’, Musaeus, Prince of Wales, D.S. Senananyake, Asian International, Gateway International and British International.  
The events will see the schools completing a distance of 1000 metres of the Beira Lake in Colombo. Heats will take place all day on the 12th and 13th of September while the main event is set for the 14th and 15th.
The 13 schools will participate in 4 events: single scull, double scull, coxless pair and coxed four. The events are sectioned into girls and boys events, each in the categories of Under 14, Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20. Overall winners from each age group will receive the t-sips Champions trophy, medals and a certificate.
Extensive preparations are under way to make the Sri Lanka Schools Rowing Championship an event to remember. t-sips is driven to support rowing to the extent that will soon be in par with other major national sports in the country like cricket, rugby, and netball.
