With reference to the article written by Srilal Miththapala on Tuesday entitled “Sri Lanka Tourism 2013” the writer says he has quoted  that Dr D S Jayaweera, the Director General of Sri Lanka Tourism has said that the tourism targets  for 2013 have to be revised downwards, by referring to a news report of the 29th  of July 2013 in the Daily FT newspaper.  “However I was unaware that Dr Jayaweera had been misquoted, and that a he had subsequently issued a correction as follows “I would like to emphasise that the above news item is factually not correct. In my speech, I said that up to 30 June 2013, foreign tourist arrivals amounted to 512,281 and considering using this regression analysis for last five years, foreign tourist arrivals are forecast as 1,280,000 in 2013.” I was unaware of this correction, and I sincerely apologize to Dr Jayaweera for the oversight.  Srilal Miththapala
