Three Sri Lankan marketers at the helm of CIM UK

The Chartered Institute of Marketing announced the international appointments of senior marketers who brought prestige to the regional institute as well to the country. These included the re-election of Shiraz Latiff as a member of the Board of Trustees – CIM UK and appointments of Nadi Dharmasiri as a member of the Membership and Professional Advisory Group (MPAG) – CIM UK and Brian Selvanayagam as a member of the Audit & Risk Committee – CIM UK.
Latiff was re-elected to the Board of Trustees of CIM UK early this year.  He was a member of CIMSLR Board from 2001 and was the Chairman from 2007 to 2009. Mr. Latiff is a Fellow Member (FCIM) and a Chartered Marketer. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Postgraduate Institute of Mana-gement, Colombo, a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from CIM UK and an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration from the Association of Business Executives, UK.
He counts over 20 years of commercial and industry experience in strategic marketing, business optimisation and corporate restructure, he has been employed in a cross section of industry sectors including hospitality, fashion, industrial machinery, financial services, and information communication technology.
The Immediate Past Chairperson of CIMSRL, Dharmasiri was appointed as a member of the Membership and Professional Advisory Group (MPAG); an advisory committee to the Board of Trustees, CIM UK. Out of the two positions for International Regions on MPAG, Dharmasiri brings honour to CIMSLR through her appointment as one of the representatives. Through this appointment Dharmasiri will continue to add value to the Institute and its global membership.
Dharmasiri is a Fellow Member (FCIM) and a Chartered Marketer. She holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from CIM UK. She was appointed the Chairperson CIMSLR in December 2012 and completed her tenure in March 2014.
Selvanayagam was appointed as a Member of the Audit & Risk Committee, CIM UK.  Selvanayagam also serves as the Honorary Secretary of CIMSLR. He is a Chartered Marketer and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from CIM UK.  He is a qualified Double Accountant in CIMA and Chartered Accountancy and has over 15 years’ experience in Management specialising in areas such as Banking & Financial Services, Business Development and Education.
CIMSLR Chair-man Shantha Katip-earachchi commenting on the appointments said: “These appointments are not only a pride to CIMSLR, it also brings honour to Sri Lanka as well.”

As the world’s largest Institute for professional marketers with over 35,000 members globally, CIM places great emphasis in maintaining high standards of quality and integrity and as such, develops and sets standards within marketing landscapes of UK and other regional countries in which it operates. The CIM qualification is the only international qualification recognized by the Royal Charter in United Kingdom.
The CIM Sri Lanka Region is the first international branch of CIM UK and comprises of the largest number of members, both professional and students, of CIM outside the UK; 2,000 student members and over 1,100 professional members, respectively. The Regional Institute has always campaigned for greater recognition and excellence in the marketing profession in Sri Lanka, through education, training and development.
