Video: Elections held to provide news for media – Premajayanth
The government is holding elections at intervals as media institutions and election monitoring institutions would not have any work otherwise says the Secretary General of the UPFA Minister Susil Premajayanth.
Speaking at a media briefing held yesterday (27th) the Minister justified violence carried out by the government thugs during its campaign for Uva PC election saying no one from the government party was involved in destroying JVP election offices or the attack on the group of JVP supporters who were decorating the stage for a meeting at Badalkumbura.
The Minister has said a group of JVPers assaulted a group of SLFP supporters and villagers retaliated by attacking the JVP supporters.
However, the Minister failed to say how the ‘villagers’ in a remote place as Badalkumbura got Defender vehicles and T-56 rifles to attack the JVP supporters.
