NDB extends relief to drought affected communities

NDB’s North Central Region extended a relief program recently, towards those affected by severe drought conditions in the area.
Conducted as part of the bank’s regional CSR initiatives, NDB North Central Region distributed storage barrels for water collection to deserving families in the area – as the rural village community lacked capacity to store drinking water distributed as relief by the local authority.
Upon consultation of Polonnaruwa Disaster Management Centre, which coordinated relief activity to drought affected communities; the region had selected 200 families of Ginidamana, Aluthwewa village in Welikanda, Pollonnaruwa GA Division as beneficiaries to receive relief. Accordingly, 200 numbers of 50 litre plastic barrels for collection of drinking water have been distributed among the village population selected.
The drought relief assistance was successfully completed last month, with participation of NDB staff members within the region, representing the NDB branches within the region along with participation from North Central Regional Office.
NDB’s social responsibility reaches far beyond philanthropy and seeks to uplift and empower the underserved communities in the society. The bank has changed the lives of many through a variety of CSR projects conducted with special focus on youth development, community empowerment, education and social well-being.
Entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihood development, nurturing the reading habit and improving English language skills in the rural youth, raising awareness on the prevention of child abuse, reaching out to the emerging entrepreneurs and cottage industrialists through financial inclusion are a few other CSR initiatives of NDB, that stand witness to the bank’s commitment towards exemplary corporate citizenship.
NDB is one of the fastest growing banks in the country with NDB Group having regional operations in Bangladesh. The bank offers a wide range of commercial banking services through its growing island-wide branch network, catering to an increasing customer base from all walks of life. Through the combined synergies of the diverse constituents of the NDB Group, its customers have access to a full range of banking and financial services; including project finance, corporate banking, SME lending, retail banking, investment banking, stockbroking and wealth management; making NDB a truly universal bank.
