Catholic Church Confirms Pope's Visit to Sri Lanka

The Catholic Church confirmed that the Pope Francis will visit Sri Lanka from January 13-15 as scheduled.

The Archbishop of Colombo, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith presiding at the Presbyterian meeting of the Archdiocese of Colombo held Monday 27th October 2014 at the Archbishop’s House, confirmed the visit of Pope Francis to Sri Lanka on 13th & 14th January 2015.

 

The Archbishop said that the Bishops' Conference will stick to the dates as announced in the Vatican itinerary and the Bishops are doing their utmost to prepare everything for the Pope’s visit. The Bishops last week have discussed with the relevant government authorities about the security arrangements.

 

Cardinal Malcolm said a delegation from the Vatican is due in Sri Lanka to work out the programme for the Pope's visit.(KH)
