Housing Complex for Government Servants in Borella

A housing complex for government servants is to be constructed under the guidance and direction of Secretary Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa fulfilling a maiden pledge given in the Mahinda Chinthana Manifesto of providing shelter to all families.

The foundation laying ceremony of the proposed housing scheme was held with the participation of Secretary Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Thursday (30th October) in Borella, Colombo.

The 21 storied apartment complex to be built in a 2.5 acre block of land will include 608 housing units under two categories. The 650sq ft two bedroom unit will cost Rs. 7.7 million while the 3 bedroom, 800 sq ft unit will cost Rs. 8.9 million. Each unit will include a kitchen, living area and modern sanitary facilities. In addition the floors will be fully tiled. The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs.4,499 million.
