Showery weather continues further in Northern, Eastern, Uva and North Central provinces.

The Met. Dept. proclaims that a low level disturbance has formed in the Bay of Bengal to the east of Sri Lanka. This system is likely to intensify further. Under the influence of this system showery weather is expected to continue over most parts of the island particularly in the Northern, Eastern, Uva and North Central provinces.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, Eastern, North Central, Uva and Southern provinces. Thundershowers will develop elsewhere particularly during the afternoonand night. Heavy falls (more than 100mm) are also likely at some places.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.

Main City forecast:

Thundershowers during the afternoonand night in Anuradhapura.

Showers at times in Colombo, Galle, Ratnapura, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya.

Morning showers and afternoon thundershowers in Mannar, Batticaloa, Trincomalee and Jaffna.
