Sri Lanka appends  Kevin Perera as the first Honorary Consul in Ho Chi Minh City

B. T. M. Kevin Perera been appointed as the first Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. The official procedures of the appointment were completed on 10th December 2014 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ha Noi in the presence of Sri Lankan ambassador to Viet Nam K.G. Ivan Amarasinghe.

 Perera has been resident in Viet Nam since 2004 and is the Regional Director (Far East) for Expolanka Freight (Vietnam) Ltd. He has been a major link between southern and northern Viet Nam, assisting the Embassy to overcome distance barriers between the two parts of the country.

 

Over the years, he has built strong links between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam, as the President of the Sri Lanka Sports Club in Ho Chi Minh in southern Viet Nam, where the largest Sri Lankan community in Viet Nam resides. Furthermore, he has developed a profound knowledge of official and protocol procedures in the performance of his voluntary services to welcome a multitude of dignitaries and officials from Sri Lanka to southern Viet Nam. His generosity in social assistance to visiting Sri Lankans and his knowledge and experience with Vietnamese trade partnerships are well known.

 

 

The new Honorary Consul is keen to develop new avenues for promoting people-to-people contacts and commercial activities, and thereby consolidate the robust relations between Sri Lanka and Viet Nam.(MEA/KH)
