"The Victory of the UPFA is a Victory of the People" - President in Mullaitivu

- news.lk

President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing a public rally of the UPFA at Mullaitivu a short while ago said that the victory of the UPFA is a victory of the people. He recalled that the past 30 years had been a period of distress, terror and darkness for everyone, but now the war is over and the country has been liberated. He requested the people to protect the country by casting their votes for UPFA on the 8th of January.

Among other initiatives to improve their livelihood, the Government has provided self-employment loans for 430 ex-combatants of Mullaitivu. We have brought Mahindodaya Laboratories to your area. Thirteen schools in the Mullaitivu District alone have been established with Mahindodaya Technological Laboratories, the President further said.

The people are well aware about the value of peace and co-existence. If we divide ourselves into groups on religious and racial base, we cannot go forward as a country, he added. Look at the situation in Iraq, Libya and Egypt, we cannot allow this to happen in this country. Also we cannot let history be repeated.

Some leaders will come here and relate stories to you but non of their children live here. They are all studying abroad. They have no feeling for you.

President Rajapaksa speaking further said, "after 27 years, we gave you an election. You all elected your members. This election will decide a leader for the country. On the 8th of January vote for the United People's Freedom Alliance. Make this country victorious".(NJ/KH)
