Batticaloa District prepares for the Presidential Elelction
Preparations are being made in the Batticaloa District for the forthcoming Presidential Election.
In the Batticaloa District 365,167 voters will be eligible to cast their votes at the Presidential Election. The voters consists of 105,055 from Kalkudah, 172,497 from Paddiruppu and 04 displaced persons.
Out of 10,988 who have applied to cast postal votes, only 8815 have become eligible.
Casting of postal votes will take place in 171 centres on Dec.23 and 25 and the District Secretariat officers and Police officers will be eligible to cast their postal votes on Dec.26.
A total of 414 postal voting centres have been set up in the Batticaloa district. It is expected to deploy 3,980 personnel on election duty. and action has been taken to establish 33 counting centre, said the Asst.Election Commissioner A.M.M.Kaffir. (KH)
