Helen Gayle Alcott (Formerly Helen Gayle Harding), 86, Syracuse and most recently Lexington, Ky. passed away April 10, 2018, in her daughter Keydron Wheeler’s home under hospice care.

Alcott was born in Bowie, Colo. July 5, 1931, to Walter and Gertrude Harding. She spent her formative years on the western slope of Colorado where she graduated high school. She had several careers in her life as a telephone operator, retail sales associate, and as a nurse caregiver. Mainly, though, she was a homemaker. She was best known for her skills as an excellent cook, perfecting her recipes over the years. She had a deep passion for genealogy and researched her family’s history back to the 1500’s.

Alcott was preceded in death by her parents, twin brothers Cliff and Clayton Harding, sister Faye Allen, daughter Wilda Kay Duvernay, and granddaughter Melanie Duvernay.

She is survived by her siblings: Bette Eskelson, Grand Junction, Colo.; Wilda Bruce, Montrose, Colo.; children: Michael (Elizabeth) Sandifer, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Kirk (Wendy) Sandifer, Eureka, Calif.; Keydron (Randy) Wheeler, Lexington, Ky.; Rudi (Angela) Alcott, Maple Valley, Wash.; Anessa Shively, Fort Collins, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was cremated with the wish to have her ashes spread in Colorado amongst the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

A celebration of her life will occur on July 5, on what would have been her 87th birthday in Montrose, Colo. Family and friends are invited to attend. Contact Rudi Alcott at (206) 390-5925 or rudi@teamalcott.com for details.
