Johnny’s exploits to the fore!
It is reported that a 6 year old file AG/45/2010 in the Attorney General’s Department has once again come to the fore. The Attorney General’s Department had been under former President Mahinda Rajapakse during the previous regime.
File AG/45/2010 includes charges against former Minister of Internal Trade, Johnstan Fernando of harbouring a LTTE suicide cadre who came to assassinate former President Mahinda Rajapakse, and obtaining a sum of 50 million rupees for his services.
According to the report B/7465/01/2009 filed by the CID in 2009 at the Colombo Magistrate Court, the LTTE suicide cadre has also resided in Johnstan Fernando’s official residence in Madiwela.
Back then, military Intelligence succeeded in recording telephone conversations between Johnstan Fernando and the LTTE sucide bombers, and an individual named ‘Rajesh’ who planned this operation from abroad. Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera had earlier released this tape recording to the media during a press conference.
