BDO helps undergraduate students of Rajarata Uni experience urban corporate environment

The partners and the staff of BDO Sri Lanka organised a career guidance project for the second year students of Faculty of Management Studies, Rajarata University.
Students spent a day at BDO head office. Aim of this project was to let the students of the rural area experience the urban corporate environment and help them to dream big also to create confidence to face the corporate environment and an employable graduate.
“BDO as a service oriented firm has a social responsibility too and it’s our responsibility to look after the generation and leaders of this country, we believe that every student in any part of Sri Lanka should have the equal exposure in life with that believe we were pleased to organise this CSR project which we concluded with great success,” said BDO Sri Lanka Managing Partner Sujeewa Rajapakse.
The session commence with Rajapakse sharing his 30 years of experience in the corporate world and also addressing the audience the importance of soft skills in life. The students were able to meet Dr. Sunil Jayantha Nawarathne, former Secretary of the Minister of Higher Education and share his thoughts on employability of the graduates and the requirement of the student centric learning. The program also gave the students an understanding and an insight of the corporate world. Tishan Subasinghe, the Technical Partner of BDO coordinated the program with academic staff of the University to disseminate the knowledge to budding graduates.
“The workshop conducted by BDO for our students was very much impressive and interactive. To my understanding, you have been able to fill the gap between theory and practice in Auditing and Assurance at the expense of your expertise and students were much benefited. I am thankful to you for extending your service to improve the academic standards of the students,” stated Aruna Shanth, Lecture Faculty of Management Studies, Rajarata University.
The program also included presentations regarding practical aspects of audits, consultancy opportunities, tax practice and the importance of English for the business, etc., done by Saman Siri Lal, Nishadee Weragala, Sarah Afker, Dinusha Perera and Saman de Silva.
