Over 1600 celebrate New Year in police custody
Police have arrested 1610 persons who were driving under the influence of alcohol in the festive season in a mission carried out to arrest drunk drivers, police told Ceylon Today online.
The special mission to arrest drunk drivers was inaugurated on 11 April and by 6.00 a.m. on 18 April 1610 such drivers have been arrested.
Police further said that 213 drivers were arrested between 6.00a.m. on 17 April to 6.00 a.m. on 18 April out of which 108 are motor cyclists.
