PM pledges to carry forward the mission to deal with corruption

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Friday reiterated that the government's mission to deal with corruption will not stop merely because a group of parliamentarians makes a noise.

Addressing the media after accepting a report that looked into the alleged corruptions and financial irregularities that have taken place at the Sports and Tourism Ministry at Temple Trees, the Prime Minister said “We came with a promise of wiping out corruption and there is no reason why we should stop this process against corruption”, he said

He stressed that he is not bothered about group of parliamentarians who have reportedly slept on the carpet.

The Prime Minister said that the government led by President will not stop this mission against corruption due to threats or protests.

“This mission will end after dealing with those who were corrupt and demanding to remove government officials will become fruitless”, he stressed

He added that those who were involved in corruption would be brought to book soon. The Prime Minister said that he is facing the barrage of criticism from the public for not taking any action against the corrupts.

“Some quarters charge me with striking deals with those who were allegedly involved in corruption. Those involved in corruption would be brought to book definetly”, he said
