Avant Garde Director submits motion to court

- newsfirst.lk

The Galle Magistrate’s Court on Monday May 25 considered a motion calling for the withdrawal of an order preventing a Director of Avant Garde Security Services from travelling overseas. The said motion was presented by army veteran and former Liaison Officer of the Ministry of Defence, Palitha Piyasiri Fernando.

The Attorney representing Fernando submitted to court that his client be granted permission to attend an event organised by the Asian Athletics Association but the CID submitted to court that, since the individual in question functioned as a Director at Avant Garde Security Services, if he is allowed to travel abroad, he could destroy evidence pertaining to the ongoing investigation of Avant-Garde Security Services and objected to the withdrawal of the order on prohibiting overseas travel.

Following the CID objection, the attorney representing Palitha Piyasiri Fernando submitted to court that his client did not at any time hold any position at Avant Garde Security Services and requested that court withdraw the order prohibiting overseas travel, subject to any conditions.

Considering submissions made by both parties, Galle Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura noted that a decision would be announced on May 27.
