Sri Lanka has accepted offers to exchange about $10 billion worth of defaulted local debt for new bonds, the Finance Ministry said on Tuesday, taking it a step towards meeting debt restructuring requirements ahead of an International Monetary Fund (IMF) review.
The Cabinet of Ministers granted approval to the proposal submitted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Sri Lanka to sign the Treaty on Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons at the ceremony to be held in relation to the said treaty parallel to the General Assembly of the United Nations.
