Tragedy struck a young Sri Lankan-Canadian family from Toronto, last Sunday morning. Jayantha Neil Wijeratne, 49, his wife Antonette, 50, and only daughter Eleesha, 16, were returning home from a road trip and holiday to Florida when a suspected drunk driver going the wrong way on Highway 427 slammed head-on into their Dodge mini-van killing father and daughter.

Bhante Kovida grew up on the tropical island of Jamaica, West Indies, of Chinese descent. He immigrated to Canada, studied for a science degree, then traveled overland from Europe to India and Nepal (via Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan) during 1974-1975, where he began the study of Indian history and culture, Hatha Yoga and meditation, classical Indian music, and Buddhism.
