Aug 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) says that the substandard fuel imports to the country has resulted in the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) incurring losses amounting to Rs. 100 million.
Efforts were underway to prevent diesel fuel leaking into the Mahwelli River after a diesel bowser toppled in Diyagal around 1.30 a.m this morning, the Disaster Management Centre told Ceylon Today Online.

Aug 04, Colombo: The director board of Sri Lanka's petroleum authority, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), today decided to suspend the tender of a Singaporean company that supplied substandard fuel to the CPC.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has temporarily withheld its dealings with the Vitol Group of Companies due to complaints of substandard fuel being supplied by the company, Ceylon Today learns.
With trade unions in relevant sectors taking up the substandard fuel issue very seriously, the three member committee appointed to look into fuel standards is also planning to handover the report to Petroleum Minister Susil Premajayantha next Thursday.
