D.C. Police Chief: Employee who called in report of gunshots at Navy Yard acted appropriately
WASHINGTON (WJLA) - Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier said the employee who called 911 for reports of a gunshots at the Washington Navy Yard "did exactly what we ask employees to do".
Lanier spoke at a news conference with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and U.S. Navy staff on Thursday and told reporters she had "no concerns whatsoever" about the employee's motive for calling police.
“If you have a concern, something is not right, please call the police and let us figure it out," said Lanier.
