Ratnapura Hotel School declared open
President Rajapaksa has declared open the Hotel School of the Sabaragamuwa Province. It was put up at a cost of 100 Million rupees.
The hotel school established by the Sri Lanka Tourism Hotel Management Institute in Ratnapura was built with grants from the Economic Development Ministry and the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council. The project was launched with the purpose of providing jobs to school leavers of the Sabaragamuwa Province. Job opportunities in the Tourism management sector were hitherto limited to the Capital and suburban areas.
The new school is equipped with all facilities to provide theoretical and practical training to about 340 students annually on hotel management. Several courses related to the hotel management sector will be available at this school. It is also planned to provide media as well as higher diploma courses related to hotel management in future. Ministers W.D.J. Seneviratne and Pavithra Wanniarachchi and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Governor W.J.M. Lokubandara and Chief Minister Mahipala Herath were present at the opening ceremony.
