WARSAW GIRLS 57, MANCHESTER 37
It was a hot start followed by a hot finish to help Warsaw to a win in its season opener Wednesday night at Manchester.
Warsaw (1-0) opened with a 21-point first quarter to take a six-point lead after eight minutes, but the two teams ground to just a 12-10 aggregate in the second and third quarters, Warsaw holding a 33-25 lead with eight minutes to go. The Lady Tigers, however, woke up to score 24 points in the final quarter to pull away.
Leading the charge for the Lady Tigers was Audrey Grimm, who scored a career-high 24 points to lead all scorers.
The host Squires (0-1) had 15 points from Eva Bazzoni and 10 points and eight rebounds from Makenzy Meyer.
A good start for Warsaw in the JV just got better as the game went on as the visitors came away with a 47-13 result. After taking a 14-point lead into the half, Warsaw allowed just three points in the second half to claim the win.
