Prime Minister Wickremesinghe is dodging questions on CBSL treasury bond scam: JVP

- newsfirst.lk

Speaking at a public rally in Hingurakgoda on July 18, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake charged that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has managed to skillfully conceal the allegations levelled over the bond transaction at the Central Bank.

He said when Ranil Wickremesinghe was questioned in Parliament if a major financial fraud take place at the Central Bank during the bond issue, he kept responding with a question asking ‘Wasn’t it during the tenure of Nivard Cabraal?’ Dissanayake said however that he did not let it go and kept asking if there wasn’t there a financial fraud at the Central Bank with the involvement of the governor.

The JVP leader added: He kept saying Cabraal’s name and even called him a rogue and when asked again, saying that Cabraal is not the issue here. But during bond transaction, wasn’t there a Rs. 42 billion loss at the Central Bank, through the involvement of the Governor? He kept replying that Cabraal must somehow be caught for this. I keep asking about Arjuna Mahendran and Ranil Wickremesinghe is blabbering about Cabraal — so a fraud did take place.
