Herschelle Gibbs, the former South African star batsman, who made a name as a wonder batsman for his spellbinding stroke play of out of this world classy shots, is one of the renowned former cricketers packing the clout to the coaching staff of the historic Lanka Premier League (LPL) that will unfold on November 26 in Hambantota.

The 46-year old Gibbs, who has replaced the originally billed Dav Whatmore as the coach of Colombo Kings, is certainly signature stuff in the starting line up coaches accredited to the five sides for the showpiece tournament. The long experience he packs as one of South Africa’s foremost players during his era will be a much looked muscle addition to Colombo Kings campaign for the big spoils.

For the record, Gibbs is known as one of the most outrageous shot makers in the game during his time. Cutting fast bowlers for six and dispatching drive throat balls down the ground or make pulling off the front foot was his pastime that stood him out.

In that backdrop, indeed Herschelle Gibbs will be one to watch in his sideshow role in conditioning the Colombo Kings to winning hieghts.
