Tea exports to be increased
Arrangements are underway to increase the export of tea up to 350 million kilo grammes annually. Support of Tea smallholders.
The information came to light at a meeting held by the Ratnapura Branch of the Sri Lanka Tea Research Institute to solve the problems faced by Tea Small Holders. The Tea Small Holders make a contribution of 70 percent in the local tea production. Awareness was raised with regard to facts on the increase of productivity and measures on facing the climate changes.
Meanwhile the National Apprentice & Industrial Training Authority -NAITA is initiating a course for tea factory technicians. The programme was launched under the patronage of Deputy Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage at the Galpihilla Estate in Kandy.
