Janice Rae Rager

Janice Rae (Adair) Rager, 87, Pierceton, passed away at 1:15 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse. She was born on May 9, 1933, in Charleston Township, Mich. to Ralph W. Adair and Madonna F. (Gilbert).  She was united in marriage to Donovan K. “Tom” Rager, Jr. on Oct. 8, 1966, in Chicago, Ill.

During their marriage they lived on their family farm in Wayne, Ill. Janice retired from Eastern Airlines and enjoyed living in Tom’s hometown of Pierceton, for the remainder of their time together along with their Doberman Pinschers, Hookie, Holly and Two.  During her lifetime, Janice thoroughly enjoyed breeding and competing with her Hackney ponies and treasured her time spent with her favorite “Jet Away.”

Janice is survived by her stepchildren, son, Michael (spouse Christine Ceja) Rager of Warrenville, Ill., daughter, Kathleen Matela of Pierceton, grandson: Brian McIntyre and his two children, Madison and Collin of Shorewood, Ill. and grandson: Peter McIntyre and his two children, Seth and Emma of Lockport, Ill.  

She was proceeded in death by her devoted spouse of close to fifty-two years, Donovan “Tom” K. Rager, Jr. and her loving parents.

A Funeral Service will be held at noon, Tuesday, Dec. 22, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Visitation will be two hours prior to the Funeral Service from 10 a.m.-noon at the Funeral Chapel.  Chaplain Bob Jarboe will officiate the Funeral.  Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

Due to current COVID-19 recommendations, masks are required.  The public is kindly requested to provide their own. Social distancing is strongly encouraged. No food permitted at this time.
