Work on Maduru Oya accelerated
Construction work related to Power Plant of the Maduru Oya Reservoir is being accelerated.
Work on the Power Plant proposed to be constructed on the Left Bank of the Canal was not carried out as a result of terrorist activities. The installation of turbines is now in progress. With the completion of work, it would be possible to add 24 gigawatt hours to the National Grid annually. The Ministry of Power and Energy is optimistic of fulfilling the electricity requirements of the farmer families in the Mahaweli B Zone with the completion of work on the Projcet. The Government is spending 580 million rupees on the Plant.
