Press Release

MILFORD — The holiday season is a great time to stop by Milford Public Library.

The library has lots of new fiction and non-fiction holiday-themed books, movies and holiday music available to check out. In addition, library staff are celebrating with a prize giveaway. Patrons can enter their names into a drawing while visiting the library. In November, local resident Wency Jackson was the recipient of a cheeseball, crackers and a dozen decorated cookies from Theresa’s Delectables. In December, the library will be giving away a family game package. Stop by the library by Dec. 23 to sign up for the drawing. A winner will be drawn that day to receive the game package just in time for Christmas.

Christmas Crafts and Activities

Milford Public Library has prepared Christmas packets for children to enjoy each week during Christmas break. Packet number one will be available beginning Monday, Dec. 21; packet number two will be available Monday, Dec. 28. The packets can be picked up in the children’s department. Each packet will have four different crafts, several family activities, juice and a sweet treat. Virtual Programs

The library’s holiday show is a free, virtual program. Magic Don will explain many different ways the world celebrates Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Year’s. These holidays share a lot of the same traditions, such as gathering with family, games and, of course, gift-giving. Magic Don will use comedy and magic to tell us about the fun holidays bring. Sign up in the adult department or by calling (574) 658-4312. The program is available from Dec. 14 to 26. A YouTube link will be e-mailed to those who register.

Jackie Franks from the Purdue Extension office will give tips on staying healthy while traveling this holiday season. This is also a free, virtual program. Sign up in the adult department or call (574) 658-4312. A link will be e-mailed to those who sign up. This free program is available from Dec. 14 to 19.

OverDrive and Libby

The library has several digital options for those who like to read books on a phone or tablet. You can check out ebooks, audiobooks and digital magazines. All patrons need is the OverDrive or Libby App, a library card number and a four-digit pin number. The digital collection is available at all times. Place holds on items you would like to read; there’s no need to worry about late fees because items return automatically. Call (574) 658-4312 or stop in at the library and a staff member will walk you through downloading the app or your items.
