Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:

  • 7:25 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, South SR 15 south of West Union Street, Warsaw. Driver: Erin M. Jacobson, 34, North Pleasant Street, Silver Lake. Jacobson was traveling northbound on South SR 15 south of West Union Street, Warsaw, when her vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
  • 6:19 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, South Packerton Road south of East Pearl Street, Sidney. Driver: Robert A. Draper, 59, West Second Street, North Manchester. Draper was traveling northbound on South Packerton Road south of Pearl Street, Sidney, when his vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
  • 2:39 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, West SR 14 west of South CR 500W, Silver Lake. Driver: Dyson M. Biltz, 22, South CR 1600E, Silver Lake. Biltz was traveling westbound on SR 14, Silver Lake, when a deer ran into his vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
  • 2:38 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, South CR 600W south of West CR 700S, Silver Lake. Driver: Keagan B. Curtis, 28, South Nellie Boulevard, Claypool. Curtis was traveling northbound on South CR 600W, Silver Lake, when his vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 6:51 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, South SR 14 north of West CR 1200S, Akron. Driver: Matthew J. Tersigni, 56, Washington Street, Geneva, Ohio. Tersigni was traveling southbound on SR 14, Akron, when his vehicle lost traction with the roadway and entered a field. The vehicle rolled onto its side after entering the field. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 6:37 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, West US 30 west of North CR 800W, Warsaw. Driver: Mason A. Mikel, 36, Arnold Street, Bourbon. Mikel was traveling eastbound on US 30 west of CR 800W, Warsaw, when his vehicle lost control on the snow-covered road. His vehicle slid off the road and struck a large tree branch. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 8:29 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, North SR 13 and East CR 200N, Pierceton. Driver: Jon A. Nelson, 51, SR 81, Ada, Ohio. Nelson was traveling southbound on North SR 13 near the intersection of East CR 200N, Pierceton, when his vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $2,500.
  • 2:23 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, East Pierceton Road east of South CR 400E, Warsaw. Driver: Trent M. Rader, 29, East Pierceton Road, Warsaw. Rader was traveling eastbound on Pierceton Road east of CR 400E, Warsaw. His vehicle had just gone on a curve in the roadway when he lost control for an unknown reason. His vehicle left the roadway and rolled at least three times, coming to a rest on its roof. His passenger exited the vehicle and went for help. Rader had to be removed from the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital with significant but unspecified injuries. He admitted to using meth before the accident. Damage up to $50,000.
  • 2:17 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, West CR 400N and North CR 150W, Warsaw. Drivers: Aaron D. Raudenbush, 51, Castle Creek Drive, Fort Wayne, and John M. Svinarich, 21, North Prairie Street, Warsaw. Raudenbush was in his vehicle, stopped at a stop sign on CR 150W, Warsaw. He thought it was a four-way stop, so he crossed CR 400N, causing Svinarich’s vehicle, with the right of way, to strike his vehicle. Svinarich’s vehicle then drove off the roadway, hit a mailbox and went into a ditch. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 11:01 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, East CR 900S west of South CR 400E, Warsaw. Driver: Dale R. Lehman, 17, South CR 500E, Pierceton. Lehman was traveling westbound on CR 900S, Warsaw. There was a deer in the roadway. Lehman hit his vehicle brakes and lost control on the icy roadway. His vehicle went off the roadway and drove up an embankment. The vehicle overturned. Damage up to $5,000.
  • 9:52 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, South Packerton Road south of East CR 600S, Warsaw. Driver: Randy J. O’Brien, 53, Richmond Drive, Wabash. O’Brien was traveling northbound on South Packerton Road, Warsaw. He said another driver of a vehicle in front of him kept “brake-checking.” The vehicle in front of him hit the brakes, and O’Brien also hit his brakes. O’Brien turned his vehicle to the left to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him, and his vehicle did a 360. His vehicle left the roadway and hit an utility pole. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 8:56 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, East Armstrong Road and EMS T25 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Samantha I. Pressler, 18, East Margaret Drive, Syracuse. Pressler was traveling eastbound on East Armstrong Road, Leesburg. She was driving too fast for the icy road conditions, and her vehicle lost traction. It went into a yard and struck a mailbox, two trees and an utility pole. Damage up to $5,000.
  • 4:41 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, North CR 800W, Warsaw. Driver: Jeremy D. Silver, 38, Cook Street, Plymouth. Silver was traveling southbound on North CR 800W, Warsaw, when he swerved to avoid tree branches in the roadway. He lost control of the vehicle due to icy road conditions and the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree. Silver complained of neck pain and was taken to the hospital. A passenger also was bleeding from the mouth and taken to the hospital. Damage up to $25,000.
  • 3:32 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, West Old Road 30 west of North Pearl Street, Warsaw. Driver: Kevin L. Blanton, 56, North Harris Street, Bourbon. Blanton was traveling eastbound on West Old Road 30, Warsaw, when he lost control of his vehicle on the ice-covered roadway. His vehicle left the north side of the roadway and struck a sign. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 1:33 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, South County Farm Road and East CR 400S, Warsaw. Driver: Stephanie Velazquez, 25, South County Farm Road, Claypool. Velazquez was traveling southbound on County Farm Road, Warsaw, and lost control of her vehicle on the ice-covered road. Her vehicle slid off the road and struck an embankment. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 1:13 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, East US 30 east of South CR 900E, Warsaw. Driver: Landon S. Irwin, 22, Kuder Lane, Warsaw. Irwin was traveling eastbound on East US 30, Warsaw, when he lost control of the vehicle due to the slush on the roadway. His vehicle left the roadway and hit a guardrail. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 12:56 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, South SR 25 south of West CR 250S, Warsaw. Driver: Tanner K. Hampton, 25, North Thompson Street, Bourbon. Hampton was traveling southbound on South SR 25, Warsaw. He lost control of his vehicle on the ice-covered roadway, and his vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree. Damage up to $25,000.
  • 12:38 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, East Old Road 30 west of East Old Trail, Warsaw. Driver: Gage D. Kreiner, 18, East Saddle Drive, Fort Wayne. Kreiner was traveling westbound on East Old Road 30, Warsaw, when his vehicle hit a patch of ice. His vehicle slid off the roadway to the south and struck a tree. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 1:46 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, West CR 1350N, Nappanee. Driver: Alexander T. Troxel, 34, Hill Trail Road, Bremen, Troxel was traveling westbound on CR 1350N, Nappanee, and approaching a bicycle. He started to pass the bicycle on the left, and the person on the bicycle started to turn left. His vehicle hit her. The bicycle rider complained of arm, hand and leg pain and was taken to a hospital. Damage up to $1,000.
  • 2:24 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, North CR 150W north of North Fox Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Gary J. Tackett, 48, North Hartzler Street, Warsaw. Tackett was traveling southbound on North CR 150W north of North Fox Farm Road, Warsaw, when his vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
  • 8:13 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, South SR 13 south of South CR 675E, Pierceton. Keith P. Mears, 48, Brentwood Road, New Castle. Mears was traveling southbound on South SR 13 when the vehicle hit black ice. The vehicle left the side of roadway and went into a field. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, East Armstrong Road east of North CR 200E, Leesburg. Driver: Madison R. Gibson, 17, East Harper Road, Leesburg. Gibson was traveling westbound on East Armstrong Road east of North CR 200E, Leesburg. Gibson lost control of the vehicle on the snow- and ice-covered roadway. Her vehicle overcorrected and went into a ditch, then ended up on its side. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 7:13 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, East CR 250N and North CR 100E, Warsaw. Drivers: Andrew J. Salyer, 21, C31 Lane, Warsaw, and Branden M. Wood, 35, Smith Street, Leesburg. Salyer was traveling eastbound on East CR 250N near the intersection of North CR 100E, Warsaw. He started to slow his vehicle, but it would not slow down properly. He applied the parking brake. His vehicle hit Wood’s. Damage up to $5,000.
  • 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, South CR 600W north of West Killdeer Drive, Mentone. Drivers: Jeanne L. Cords, 58, West CR 600S, Claypool, and Amanda J. Bradley, 57, West CR 1000N, Roann. Cords was traveling westbound on West Killdeer Drive at the intersection of South CR 600W, Mentone. She stopped at the intersection. She failed to see Bradley’s vehicle and pulled into its path. Their vehicles collided. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 12:49 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, North Franklin Street and West Main Street, Mentone. Drivers: Harold H. Brown, 84, West Main Street, Silver Lake, and Mindy K. Schrock, 48, East 12th Street, Rochester. Brown was traveling southbound on North Franklin Street, Mentone, and stopped at a stop sign. He continued south, crossing West Main Street and failed to yield to Schrock’s vehicle. His vehicle hit Schrock’s. Damage up to $10,000.

 

Syracuse

Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:

  • 6:56 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, West Carroll Street west of North Dolan Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Brooke A. Shepherd, 26, North Parkway Drive, Syracuse, and James M. Beer, 42, East Main Street, Syracuse. Beer wasn’t paying attention and ran through a stop sign at the intersection of West Carroll Street and North Dolan Drive, Syracuse, causing Shepherd’s vehicle to hit Beer’s. Damage up to $5,000.

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:

  • 8:06 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, US 30 west of Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Driver: Anthony M. Oteki, 42, Water Oak, Denton, Texas. Oteki was traveling eastbound on Lake City Highway near the Anchorage Road intersection, Warsaw. His vehicle began to fishtail on the snow/slush covered road. His vehicle slid sideways and into the median. The vehicle rolled onto its side. Damage up to $5,000.
  • 5:42 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2501 Walton Blvd., Warsaw. Drivers: Frank D. Barr, 64, North SR 13, Pierceton, and Evelia Lara, 38, North Old SR 15, Warsaw. Barr was backing out of a parking space at Walmart when his vehicle collided with Lara’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
  • 9:08 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, North Parker Street, south of South Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Selena M. Vanover, 46, West Section Street, Milford, and Rita A. Golding, 70, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Vanover was traveling north on Parker Street when her vehicle crossed the center line, hitting Golding’s vehicle. Vanover was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for head pain. Damage up to $10,000.
  • 2:06 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, US 30, west of Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Robert F. Cary, 70, Chinworth Court A., Warsaw, and Harold C. Teesdale, 40, Dombey Road, Portage. Cary was traveling east on US 30 when he rear-ended Teesdale’s vehicle. Teesdale complained of back pain and was treated by medics at the scene. Damage up to $2,500.
